Maker of the month / Glass Half Full Terrariums

Hi! My name is Nikki, I founded Glass Half Full in 2017 and I have been creating low maintenance, nature inspired terrariums in my Bristol home studio ever since.

With a solid love for houseplants already locked in, I made my first terrarium after being gifted a glass plant hanger by a friend. From this I went onto teaching myself the intricacies of enclosed terrarium building.

Terrariums are such clever things, they are great examples of how photosynthesis, respiration and the water cycle works. It’s amazing watching the plants grow and appreciating how they use these three vital processes to sustain themselves with minimal outside input.

The bigger the terrarium the more we can mimic nature and so in the larger designs I also add arthropods, called Springtails. These tiny custodians like to eat mould and fungus and are known as terrarium clean up crews!

All Glass Half Full terrariums are peat-free and plastic-free and come with full care sheets that will help you keep your mini ecosystem thriving long term.
